Sports Psychology as a subject has been ignored and neglected in physical education academic programs, by most of the universities in India. World-renowned sports sociologist Dr. F.W. Gras ( GDR ) expressed deep concern, regarding the status of sports sociology, when he visited India in 1987. He had recommended this discipline to be an integral part of physical education curricula both for graduate and post-graduate courses.
